JRN Pottery
I consider myself an accidental ceramicist whose childhood hobby has evolved into an all-consuming obsession with texture transfer. What began as an exploration to capture my grandmother’s wedding lace, has evolved into constant excitement to work with anything three-dimensional that catches my eye. Clay is the perfect medium to replicate the inverse impression of every plant, fabric or surface. I produce one-of-a-kind tactile, functional pieces with an emphasis on the evidence of human touch and an embrace of imperfect organic rawness. Pottery for me is endlessly rewarding. I love the feel and smell of the clay and the ability to lose myself for hours at a time, both phycially and mentally engaged. The infinite combinations of colors and texture and shapes, means that every single kiln firing still leads to a childlike excitement and impatience to peak inside to reveal the results.
